Integration guide for August with Teebly
Overview
Connect Teebly to August to enable automated access control for your indoor golf facility. Founded in 2012 in San Francisco, August is a leading smart lock manufacturer known for its award-winning design by Yves Behar. Originally acquired by Assa Abloy in 2017 and now owned by Fortune Brands, August continues to deliver best-in-class consumer lock products and powers the backend services for Yale locks.
Prerequisites
You will need the following before starting the integration:
- An August account (create one in the August Home App if needed)
- One or more supported August Smart Locks
- August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge (for locks without built-in Wi-Fi)
- August Home mobile app installed on your device (iOS or Android)
- Teebly account with administrator access
Note: August locks require Wi-Fi connectivity for remote access. The Wi-Fi Smart Lock and Smart Lock 4th Generation have built-in Wi-Fi, while other August lock models require the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge accessory to enable remote functionality.
Prepare Your August Locks
Follow these steps to set up your August locks for integration with Teebly:

Install the August Home App
Download and install the August Home App on your mobile device (iOS or Android). -
Create an August Account
If you don't already have one, create an account in the August Home App. Make sure to note your login credentials for later use. -
Install Your August Lock
Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install your August lock on your door. -
Add Your August Lock to the App
In the August Home App:- Tap the + icon to add a new device
- Select your lock model and follow the on-screen pairing instructions
- Verify the lock appears in your device list
- Test lock and unlock functionality within the app

Verify Remote Access
Before connecting to Teebly, ensure you can lock and unlock your August device remotely through the August Home App when you're away from the facility. This confirms your Wi-Fi connection (either built-in or via Connect Bridge) is working properly.
Connect Your Devices to Teebly
Once your August locks are properly configured, you can connect them to Teebly:
- Log into the Teebly Dashboard
- Navigate to Operations > Access Control
- Click Add devices
- Select August from the list of available access control providers
- Enter your August account credentials
- Select the August lock devices you want to be accessible to your customers during their bookings
Testing Your Integration
This will send a live unlock command to the selected August device. Ensure that it is safe to do so before proceeding.
After connecting your devices in Teebly, test that the unlock functionality works as expected:
- Navigate to Operations > Access Control
- Click the Test active device button
If the test is successful and your device unlocks, your integration is complete! Your customers will now be able to access your facility during their bookings.
Monitoring Access Requests
Teebly logs all access requests for monitoring and troubleshooting purposes. You can find access requests for the last 30 days by navigating to Operations > Door Access Logs.
Logs are also accessible within individual booking details and are not limited to the last 30 days.
Note: All requests with a "Granted" status indicate that Teebly authorized the request and sent an unlock command to the door reader.
This does not guarantee that the device has received or successfully processed the unlock command. Factors such as network connectivity, device functionality, or physical obstructions at the door may prevent the door from unlocking.
Troubleshooting
Device Not Appearing in Connection Flow
- Verify the lock is added and online in the August Home App
- Confirm Wi-Fi connectivity (built-in or via Connect Bridge)
- Check that you're logged into the correct August account
Connect Bridge Issues
- Check that the Bridge is plugged in and shows as online in the August Home App
- Verify the Bridge is within range of your August lock
- Try unplugging and replugging the Bridge
Lock Shows as Offline
- Check the lock's battery level in the August Home App
- For Wi-Fi Smart Lock: Verify your Wi-Fi network is stable
- For locks with Connect Bridge: Confirm the Bridge is online and within range
- Try power cycling the Connect Bridge (if applicable)
Device Won't Unlock
- Verify the lock is online in the August Home App
- Check battery levels and replace if low
- Test unlocking directly through the August Home App
- Verify the deadbolt moves freely when operated manually
Connection Authentication Fails
- Verify your August account email and password are correct
- Check that you have owner-level access to the locks
- Complete two-factor authentication if enabled
- Try logging out and back into the August Home App
