Wyze Smart Locks

Connect Teebly to Wyze to enable automated access control

Overview

Founded in 2017 by former Amazon employees and based in Seattle, Washington, Wyze is a consumer electronics company known for offering high-quality smart home products at affordable prices. Wyze produces smart locks with accompanying gateways and optional keypads, designed for easy installation and user-friendly operation. Wyze Locks replace only the interior side of existing deadbolts, preserving physical key functionality while adding remote access control via the Wyze app. With Teebly's integration, you can easily manage your Wyze locks and provide automated access to your customers.

Prerequisites

Important Requirements

Before connecting Wyze to Teebly, ensure you have:

  • A Wyze Lock (Gateway model) and a Wyze Lock Gateway
  • A Wyze account and the Wyze app (iOS / Android)
  • Stable internet connection for the gateway

Wyze Lock Models

Wyze Lock (with Gateway): Fully supported for remote lock/unlock and status monitoring.

Wyze Lock Bolt (Bluetooth-only): Not compatible with Teebly - this model only supports Bluetooth connections and cannot be controlled remotely.

Prepare Your Wyze Account

Before connecting to Teebly, complete these setup steps in your Wyze account:

1. Set up the Wyze mobile app

Download the Wyze mobile app and create an account if you don't have one. Add all your Wyze Lock devices (with Gateway) through the app following the manufacturer's setup instructions.

2. Install and connect the Wyze Lock Gateway

Each Wyze Lock requires a Wyze Lock Gateway for remote connectivity. Install the gateway according to the manufacturer's instructions and ensure it's connected to your Wi-Fi network with a stable internet connection.

3. Pair locks with gateway

In the Wyze app, pair each Wyze Lock to its gateway. Verify that all locks show as online and connected to the gateway in the app.

4. Create Wyze API credentials

This is a critical step for connecting to Teebly:

  • Go to the Wyze Developer Portal
  • Log in with your Wyze account credentials
  • Click Create an API key
  • Once created, click view to see your API Key and API Key ID
  • Save both values securely - you'll need both the API Key and API Key ID to connect to Teebly

5. Test lock operation

Use the Wyze mobile app to lock and unlock each device remotely to verify the gateway connection is working correctly before connecting to Teebly.

6. Record your credentials

You'll need three pieces of information to connect to Teebly:

  • Your Wyze account email
  • Your Wyze account password
  • Your Wyze API Key ID and API Key (both values from step 4)

Connect Your Devices to Teebly

Once your Wyze account is properly configured, you can connect it to Teebly:

  1. Log into the Teebly Dashboard
  2. Navigate to Operations > Access Control
  3. Click Add devices
  4. Select Wyze from the list of available access control providers
  5. Enter your Wyze credentials:
    • Wyze API Key ID
    • Wyze API Key
    • Wyze account email
    • Wyze account password
  6. Select the Wyze lock devices you want to be accessible to your customers during their bookings

Testing Your Integration

This will send a live unlock command to the selected Wyze device. Ensure that it is safe to do so before proceeding.

After connecting your devices in Teebly, test that the unlock functionality works as expected:

  1. Navigate to Operations > Access Control
  2. Click the Test active device button

If the test is successful and your device unlocks, your integration is complete! Your customers will now be able to access your facility during their bookings.

Monitoring Access Requests

Teebly logs all access requests for monitoring and troubleshooting purposes. You can find access requests for the last 30 days by navigating to Operations > Door Access Logs.

Logs are also accessible within individual booking details and are not limited to the last 30 days.

Note: All requests with a "Granted" status indicate that Teebly authorized the request and sent an unlock command to the door reader.

This does not guarantee that the device has received or successfully processed the unlock command. Factors such as network connectivity, device functionality, or physical obstructions at the door may prevent the door from unlocking.

Troubleshooting

Devices Don't Appear

  • Confirm you have Wyze Lock (with Gateway), not Wyze Lock Bolt
  • Verify the Wyze Lock Gateway is powered on and online in the Wyze app
  • Check that all locks are paired to the gateway
  • Double-check both your API Key and API Key ID were entered correctly

Connection Fails During Setup

  • Verify you've created an API Key in the Wyze Developer Portal
  • Double-check your Wyze account email and password
  • Ensure you have both the API Key and API Key ID copied correctly

Lock Status Not Updating

  • Check that the Wyze Lock Gateway is online in the Wyze app
  • Ensure the gateway has a stable internet connection
  • Try restarting the gateway by unplugging and reconnecting power

Lock Won't Unlock

  • Verify the gateway shows as online in the Wyze app
  • Check that lock is properly paired to the gateway
  • Ensure gateway is within Bluetooth range of the lock
  • Check battery levels and replace if below 20%

Gateway Offline

  • Verify the gateway is plugged in and receiving power
  • Confirm the gateway is connected to your Wi-Fi network
  • Try restarting the gateway: unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in

API Key Issues

  • Go to the Wyze Developer Portal and regenerate your API Key
  • Copy both the new API Key and API Key ID
  • Reconnect your Wyze account in Teebly with the new credentials
