Schlage Integration

Connect Teebly to Schlage to enable automated access control

Overview

Founded in 1920, Schlage is a leading manufacturer of smart locks and security products, now part of Allegion. Known for security, durability and resilience, Schlage offers both Wi-Fi-enabled smart locks and Z-Wave models that integrate with compatible hubs. With Teebly's integration, you can easily provide automated access to your customers.

Prerequisites

Important Requirements

Before connecting Schlage to Teebly, ensure you have:

For Schlage Encode/Encode Plus (Wi-Fi models):

  • A Schlage Home account and Home app (iOS / Android)
  • Verified email address for your Schlage account (required to avoid authorization errors)
  • Wi-Fi network connectivity for your locks

For Schlage Connect/Connected Keypad (Z-Wave models):

  • Samsung SmartThings Hub (3rd generation) or Aeotec Smart Home Hub

Prepare Your Schlage Account

The setup process differs depending on your Schlage lock model:

For Schlage Encode/Encode Plus (Wi-Fi Models)

1. Set up the Schlage Home app

Download the Schlage Home app and create an account if you don't have one. Add all your Schlage Encode or Encode Plus locks to the app and ensure they're functioning properly.

2. Verify your email address

This is a critical step. In the Schlage Home app or via the verification email sent during account creation, confirm your email address. An unverified email will cause authorization errors when connecting to Teebly.

3. Connect locks to Wi-Fi

Ensure all your Schlage Encode locks are connected to your Wi-Fi network. Follow the in-app instructions to complete Wi-Fi setup for each lock.

4. Test lock operation

Use the Schlage Home app to lock and unlock each device to verify they're responding correctly before connecting to Teebly.

5. Record your credentials

Note your Schlage Home app email and password. You'll need these credentials to connect your Schlage account to Teebly.

6. Check lock firmware

Verify your locks have the latest firmware installed through the Schlage Home app. Go to each lock's settings and check for firmware updates.

For Schlage Connect/Connected Keypad (Z-Wave Models)

1. Purchase a compatible Z-Wave hub

Teebly supports the Samsung SmartThings Hub (3rd generation) or Aeotec Smart Home Hub. Purchase and set up one of these hubs following the manufacturer's instructions.

2. Set up SmartThings

Download the SmartThings app (iOS / Android) and create an account. Follow the app's setup wizard to configure your SmartThings hub.

3. Pair locks to SmartThings

Add each Schlage Connect or Connected Keypad lock to your SmartThings hub using Z-Wave pairing:

  • In the SmartThings app, tap the + icon and select Add Device
  • Select Scan nearby or choose Lock from the device categories
  • Put your lock in pairing mode (typically by removing and reinserting the battery)
  • Follow the in-app instructions to complete pairing

4. Verify Z-Wave connectivity

Ensure the hub is within Z-Wave range of all locks (typically 30-40 feet without obstructions). Test lock operation through the SmartThings app.

5. Test lock controls

Use the SmartThings app to lock and unlock each device to verify they're responding correctly before connecting to Teebly.

6. Record your SmartThings credentials

Note your SmartThings account email and password. You'll need these to connect your locks to Teebly.

Connect Your Devices to Teebly

The connection process depends on your lock type:

For Schlage Encode/Encode Plus (Wi-Fi Models)

  1. Log into the Teebly Dashboard
  2. Navigate to Operations > Access Control
  3. Click Add devices
  4. Select Schlage from the list of available access control providers
  5. Enter your Schlage Home app credentials
  6. Complete any 2-factor authentication if enabled
  7. Select the Schlage lock devices you want to be accessible to your customers during their bookings

For Schlage Connect/Connected Keypad (Z-Wave Models)

  1. Log into the Teebly Dashboard
  2. Navigate to Operations > Access Control
  3. Click Add devices
  4. Select SmartThings from the list of available access control providers
  5. Enter your SmartThings account credentials
  6. Select the Schlage locks you want to be accessible to your customers during their bookings

Testing Your Integration

This will send a live unlock command to the selected Schlage device. Ensure that it is safe to do so before proceeding.

After connecting your devices in Teebly, test that the unlock functionality works as expected:

  1. Navigate to Operations > Access Control
  2. Click the Test active device button

If the test is successful and your device unlocks, your integration is complete! Your customers will now be able to access your facility during their bookings.

Monitoring Access Requests

Teebly logs all access requests for monitoring and troubleshooting purposes. You can find access requests for the last 30 days by navigating to Operations > Door Access Logs.

Logs are also accessible within individual booking details and are not limited to the last 30 days.

Note: All requests with a "Granted" status indicate that Teebly authorized the request and sent an unlock command to the door reader.

This does not guarantee that the device has received or successfully processed the unlock command. Factors such as network connectivity, device functionality, or physical obstructions at the door may prevent the door from unlocking.

Troubleshooting

Unauthorized Error When Connecting

  • Verify your email address is confirmed in the Schlage Home app
  • Double-check your Schlage Home app email and password
  • Complete 2-factor authentication if prompted

Devices Don't Appear

  • Open the Schlage Home app and verify locks are visible and online
  • Check that locks are connected to Wi-Fi with adequate signal strength

Lock Status Not Updating

  • Verify locks are connected to your Wi-Fi network
  • Check Wi-Fi signal strength at lock locations
